Clock rate

From Sonic Retro

This short article is in need of work. You can help the Sonic Retro Wiki by adding to it.

Clock rate is a term used to measure how many individual 'cycles' a processor can execute in one second. Can also be referred to as "clock speed". Generally, processors tend to take multiple cycles per instruction, and so the clock rate is not really a plausible way to compare two different types of processor.

Sega referred to the Mega Drive's fast CPU clock rate as "Blast Processing" and marketed early Sonic Mega Drive games under this term.
